My findings!
Website 1 Website 1 says that the reason the u.s. dropped the bombs, was because it could end the war against Japan, when Harry Truman learned of the success of the Manhattan Project, he knew he was faced with a decision of unprecedented gravity. The capacity to end the war with Japan was in his hands." (Website 1) However, he knew the consequence of killing many citizens, making it an extremely difficult decision. According to the website, "For Truman, the choice whether or not to use the atomic bomb was the most difficult decision of his life." (Website 1) The u.s. was deeply concerned with using atomic bombs that they even warned Japan, also giving them a way out "The Japanese military command rejected the request for unconditional surrender, but there were indications that a conditional surrender was possible."(Website 1)
Website 2
Website 2 speaks more on why Japan failed to surrender to the u.s. "It is greatly suspected by many that since Japan was already working on details for surrender well before the 1st A-Bomb was dropped, that those bombs were to be dropped no matter what.... or any surrender by Japan."(Website 2) Although the u.s. sent a warning, the Japanese had figured that the bomb would be dropped no matter what. One might believe that the Japanese had given up hope of surrender, because they angered the U.S. "The US was to 'test' the results of such a mass killing weapon(s) on live civilian locations regardless. Money invested and bombs built to be dropped. The green light was on with no stopping it."(Website 2) This is also true, and probably a more important reason they didn't get to surrender. The Japanese didn't even have the option because the u.s.'s plan had been set in motion
Website 3
According to website 3, Japan completely deserved the bombs,"they deserved to be bombed because they bombed us at Pearl Harbor. Yes, we feel pity for them because it killed 70,000 plus. But they also killed some of our people. That's really not right, You expect to kill our people and us to be just fine with it?" (Website3) Japan didn't even give the u.s. a warning when they decided to attack Pearl Harbor, therefore it was completely just for the u.s. to bomb Japan. However another review says that the attack was unjust, "The mass murdering (because that's exactly what it was) of 100,000 of Japanese citizens was unnecessary! " (Website 3) I think it was fair that the u.s. got back at Japan, they deserved it and definitely had it coming. Even though it was cruel, Japan attacked us first, therefor I don't believe it was a wrong act.
